Is it possible to raise one pet on tamagotchi v5?

I want to get a tamagotchi v5 but i was wondering if i could just have one pet on it, or do i have to have a whole family?

you have to have a whole family which you start out with 3 tamagotchis. then when they become adults,  they can get married. go to the tv icon and click on it and it will say the dating show. you will select the character you want to get married and the nms. busybody ( the matchmaker ) will show you to another tama. the nthey will get married and have babies. you can either have 3, 2 , or 1

baby - 1 hr.

toddler- 48 hr.

teen- 48 hr.

adult-48 hr.

then they can breed!
