  1. I didn,t have a landline and i got broadband from virgin,it was £30 connection fee and its £10 a month,I got my computer in december last year so i don,t think the price will have altered, hope this helps

  2. yes

  3. are you picking it up by wireless. if you have a wireless card you might have a nieghbor who has an unprotected wireless access you are connecting to

  4. You should be able to get satellite broadband.

  5. Hi,once they realise your still connected they will cut you off.

I have cable most companies same to want a BT line.

    Good Luck

    Found this link

    Hope its usefull

  6. Definetly, i know this for a fact, as a friend of mine has 2 computers but no land-line.

She has wireless, most companies offer them now, i don't know much about it, but you get some device, and then you can connect them to any computer.  But you have to have an ISP.

  7. yes...you have several choices....cable wifi DSL and satellite!!

  8. There are a few services that offer internet access via wifi, wimax or sattelite in addition to a cable connection.

The wifi and wimax service are only available in a few places and IMHO the sattelite services are so laggy and expensive as to not be worth the hastle.

Have a look at some of the new 3G USB internet offers from the mobile networks, but beware of long cotracts or poor coverage.

Edit: Yes if your BT line is disconnected for calls, a broadband service won't be disconnected at the same time, however sooner or later the phyical wires will be disconnected and your broadband will cease.

I would try and get the BT line back on if at all possible, it's far the best way to get an internet connection and you can then choose from any ADSL provider.

  9. Our old virgin media connection was Cable broadband, not having a landline just means you can't get ADSL or broadband on the phone line :) don't know what the ohters are on about ><

  10. Yes but expensive.

You can get it on a mobile and also via a satellite connection.

  11. Yes, depending on your computer and location.  I have listed the website below.  Boingo.com is the world’s largest network of Wi-Fi hotspots – 100,000+ and counting.  If there is a hotspot in your area or where you travel to you are set.  You'll want to check out all of their plans and see which one (if any) works for you.  I know of people who have used Boingo successfully in several areas of Africa (including South Africa).  Again, it depends on where you are located so be sure to read all of the fine print before signing up.  But there are no long term contracts (month to month if you like).  And no, I am not writing a commercial for them.  Just a satisfied user.
