I have a GIF image sized almost 6 MB and I want it reduced to 1 MB or less. Is that possible at all? If it is, how? Thanks.

  1. This can be done in Photoshop in two ways:

    1. image > image size, then reduce either the resolution or measurement.

    2. file > save for web, then adjust your details on the right.

If you do not have Photoshop, feel free to email me the image and I'll resize it for you: elblock@email.com.

  2. there must be a reason it's so big. Probably the DPI is set to 300 or it's animated or it's just freaking huge. If that's the case sometimes just re-saving it works. Drag and drop it into a internet browser, or open it with  IrfanView windows picture viewer or even paint.

As a last resort re sample it.. If you don't have a graphics program download the free viewer IrfanView which has some limited graphics capabilities. (but its annoying because it doesn't respect windows file structure so your pics are always out of order, which makes the program nearly useless as a viewer)

Yo find if a program can resample search in help for "resample"

  3. Yes - just open it in Photoshop or Gimp and use the Image>size reduce option to reduce the file size.
