More specifically near Barcelona airport or in the Salou area... my friends and I are planning a holiday but only 1 of us can drive and have only just passed their test (holiday is August). A car would be very useful!

  1. interesting

  2. You cab pre book the car, this is easier so you can pick it up when you arrive at the airport. All car rentals have different terms but most of them will put on an extra charge per day ( about 6 euros) if you are under 21. It does not matter how long your licence has been valid for.

  3. You will find it a little tough but it's not impossible. Usually if you are under 21 or have had your license for under a year, some car hire companies will not rent you a car. Some will not rent you a car if you are under 25! Some will though so it's just a case of phoning around and specifying the age of your friend etc.

I think it all depends on the insurance they have.

Don't book a hire car through the internet without asking about this though as you may find that disappointment waits on the other end.

  4. Every car hire company will give you the same answer, No.

Sorry to young and not enough experience.

  5. I thought you needed to be 21 to drive abroad

  6. I´m from Spain and normally if you want to rent a car ,your licence must have 2 years

  7. I'm pretty sure that you have to be 25. That is the standard for most international rental car agencies. But you still might be able to find something. I would start with a rental company and just ask if they say no then try local companies. Alot of times they are more laid back.

If it doesn't work know that the public transportation systems in Europe are awesome. Nothing like the US. You can really go any where you want by train or bus plus it's cheap.

    Good luck.

  8. Sorry to tell you that, but it is not possible, you need to be 21.. and if you get to rent a car, the company won't be a serious one! I lived 3 years in Barcelona and went many times to Salou, you get do the traject very easily and cheap by train! This is much safer and cheap. The road between Barcelona and Salou (motorway) is dangerous, as a lot up and downs and the spanish don't respect any rules.. if you don't know the road, the way spanish drive and you are unexperiences, I won't recommend you to do so! I'm 29 and love to drive.. but really, I swear you that better for your life not to drive there. Between Salou and Barcelona, the connection is good.. you even get bus

  9. Very sorry but no. You are too young and too inexperienced. There are security & insurance implications here, Most companies it is 25 years of age.

The mortality rate here in Spain is quite high with young drivers. Besides, driving in Barcelona is a nightmare for me and I've been driving for 47 years.
