  1. yes and no, it depends on what you mean by "run a car"

you can use some metals like sodium to liberate hydrogen from water which can then be used to power the car which will again provide water but its not the water that's providing the energy its the sodium.

HHO (or Oxyhydrogen) is different from water it is a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen at a 2 : 1 ratio, the same proportion as water. this could be used to run a car easily. it could be used in a similar way as LPG currently or the hydrogen and oxygen separated and used in a hydrogen fuel cell.

bob i can see what you mean, i think its just our different interpretations of "run a car". the way i see it the potential chemical energy is provided by electrical energy so it is just a medium for storing energy but fossil flues originality come from plants which originally got that energy from the sun. so what can you run a car on then?

  2. i know it is possible to run a car with water. it is called a steam engine car. i don't suppose anyone in UK will be driving such  an old-fasioned car as it is very inconvenient .

  3. No.

There's not enough chemical energy in water to power a machine.

The way people do it is to use electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen.  Those do have chemical energy.  You can recombine them in a fuel cell and get most of the electricity back.

But you're not "running" the car on water, you're running it on the electricity you used to split the water.

Gengi M - Two key sentences from your quote are useful to avoid confusion here:

"Oxyhydrogen is a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen gases", ie not water.

"HHO gas or Klein gas is an oxyhydrogen mixture made by water electrolysis", ie it takes energy to make it from water.

  4. It is not possible without some other form of energy input.  Steam powered cars use fuel, usually kerosene to generate the steam.

  5. Yes, it is . Check these out .
