Is it possible to see an a/c compressor clutch to engage, but still be bad?

I took my acura to a shop, to get the a/c converted. Then it turned out that the refrigerant was not holding, and that it was because of the compressor was bad, that it had a leak within the compressor itself. Is that possible?

  1. Yes.. the clutch engageing or not engageing is electrical,controlled by a temperature switch....

    a compressor that is leaking refridgerant would be a bad compressor, clutch could still be good...

  3. Internal leaks will only affect performance.  You will not lose refrigerant.

  5. yes the seals around the shaft could be bad....

  6. Yes. The compressor has seals that keep the refrigerant in they can leak. Sorry for your trouble. Have a better day
