Is it possible to see meteorites when the sky is cloudy?

I am watching out for the meteor shower tonight and the sky is so cloudy that there is no star in sight. Will the sky clear up? I don't want to miss a thing!

It is possible but for obvious reasons it is hard. You need to be more vigilant, be looking out for any break in the cloud. Perhaps, if you are able to, you could move your position. You may be unable to see anything from where you are but elsewhere you can.

meteorite - rock after in hits the ground

If you want to see the meteor shower tonight, you will need clear skies.  The meteor/ fireball is higher than any clouds.

I will make the assumption you mean a "meteor" and not a "meteorite"  (meteorite is a meteor that has struck the surface) The perseid meteor shower has a very long range, about two weeks on either side of the peak usually can produce several meteors per hour from a DARK, CLOUDLESS site.  You may still see showers with thick cloud cover, but it will be literally a rain shower, and not a meteor one.  

This year, because of the moon, the nights just before the peak will produce better sighting opportunities than the nights just after it.  

because of the location of the radiant, between 2-3 am (local time) is probably the best time to start viewing, lasting until morning twilight renders them invisible.

Probably not, because the meteors burn up well above the cloud layer. If they are bright enough or the clouds are thin enough, you might see something.

I don't believe it starts until tomorrow night. There might be a few - not a lot.

As for the clouds - clouds will really mess up your site seeing. Not saying you shouldn't look, cause you might see a few in bare areas where there are no clouds.
