Is it possible to see stars and flashing from eye strain?

I was in the shower and shaving my armpits when I started seeing stars flash in front of my eyes for about 10 seconds. It looked like the screen saver with the moving stars. It is possible that it was just eye strain from looking to the side, or is it something more I should be worried about?

it could be eye strain, but to be on the safe side I would make an appointment with an optometrist.  They will be able to help you out!
