Is it possible to send cards or letters etc. to Iran with getting it trouble with homeland security?

i have a friend liveing tehran iran, i would like to send a card or letter or maybe $20.00 is it possible from USA?

Sending letters anywhere is legal.

Yes, you should be able to send your letter and the money with no problem, assuming the letter doesn't read "Use this $20.00 to buy material for bombs!!!". Also, make the money a cheque, because it's just safer in general.

What is a soldier going to do with dollars?  Send an international money order available at banks or the post office.  For sending it, look into the Dear Abby column--she's got some sort of letter writing thing for the troops.
