Is it possible to sign up for the merchant navy and be aboard a ship in a few days for adventure?

this sounds like a great adventure and thats what im looking for!!! it wouldnt bother me what the job would include,im not scared of hard work

I don't think so as they are not in the business of providing short term entertainment.  They are looking for people who want to make a commitment to work long term.  In addition, when the ship pulls out of port it may be weeks or a month before it gets to its next port of call.

There is no way any company will let you near a ship without at least basic training in Health & Safety, Survival Training, Firefighting and deck work. Have a look at this site for information on the requirements. http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos247.htm
