Me and my friends were arguing for a long time about if you can skip a season or not? And since he is 13 years old I do not take advice from him or any smart logic from him lol, so I would just like to know is it possible to completely skip a season like from winter to summer no spring you wake up in the morning and there is no snow AT ALL. So is it possible? and if we could or did what could happen?

  1. No,  Some seasons may be more or less extreme and seem to least longer or shorter.

  2. The answer is NO!

  3. britain is losing it's seasons have you heard of global warming

  4. The only way I see that happening is if you go to the opposite hemisphere.  Assuming you live in the northern hemisphere with me then you'd have to go to the southern hemisphere.  They have seasons opposite of us.  When it's summer here it's winter there.  I hope it's safe to assume you live in the northern part of the US also.  I live in the south and rarely see snow.  It's more like white dust that melts before it even touches the ground here.  Usually it only snows for like an hour or so the whole season here.  lol

  5. uhh... that happened this year. look up global warming.

  6. No you can not skip a season since seasons are defined by the time of year.

It can appear at times that a season has been skipped however as I have seen in the past when spring and summer seem to be the same, or when the spring weather seems more like what would be expected in summer and then continues throughout the summer.

This would appear that spring never existed, and we jumped straight from winter to summer.

I have also seen years when there seemed to be no summer at all and that spring weather continued through the entire summer which would seem like we skipped summer altogether.

Actually I could give examples of apparent season skips for all seasons( if you define a season by what the weather is expected to be for that season).

  7. You can't truly "skip" a season like in cartoons, but you can have mild winters, cold, rainy summers, and the occasional spring or fall where it seems almost like you're skipping a season. For example, last year, October was a fifth summer month, but November felt like winter. We didn't truly "skip" a season. The weather patterns and the sun's heat along with our position relative to the sun due to the tilted axis don't allow that to happen. Although you can have a warm spell in late March that FEELS like you went straight to summer, like we did in 1998, but then two weeks later it snowed again.

  8. Technically, no, because the seasons are defined by the Earths' position relative to the Sun, and the resultant apparent position of the Sun in the sky.  Weatherwise it can happen where one season may seem to transition quickly to another season, such as winterlike  to summerlike, or even the opposite.  In tropical locales it can seem like there is just one season, as it stays warm year round, while say, in Antarctica, it seems like it's always winter!
