Hey, both me and my girlfriend are 17, and we want to head down to Niagara Falls, Canada for a couple of nights to celebrate our high school graduation. I was wondering, is there any way to book a hotel at the age of 17? If not, are we allowed to stay at the hotel if a parent does all the paperwork? Details would be really appreciated. Oh, and we're Canadian citizens, if that matters at all.

  1. Yeah, you can.

  2. Of course as long as you can pay

  3. Best to check in advance. Most you have to be 18 and have a valid credit card. Minors normally have to be accompanied by an adult even if they are in a different room.

  4. It depends on the hotel.  Most of the "high end" hotels will require that you be at least 18 years of age, some even 21.  A lot of the hotels and motels on Lundy's Lane will let you book a room if you are over 16, as long as you can provide valid credit card authorization (make sure you have enough credit on your card to cover the room, plus tax, plus at least $100 security deposit... they'll 'authorize' the card when you check in, for at least that much).

Best to just start calling around and find a place now.  The sooner you book it, the better rate you'll get.... especially if you're coming in on a weekend.

Have a good trip, I'm sure you'll find something.
