  1. Yes, you can stay in a hotel for that long.  You might be able to work out a deal with the hotel and get a lower than normal rate since you want to stay for a long time.  Remember, though, that you'll have to eat out every day; so count this into your budget.  Hotels will not allow you to cook in your room.

  2. Yes  you can and I know numerous people that do just that.

You.may be able to cut yourself a discount for that long

It would be an asset if you spoke Spanish.

Apartments are not much cheaper than hotels.  I know several people that stay at the "Bor" hotel where the rate is $20.00 usd a day and they pay $300.00 usd a month and they have a good size pool. They use Micro Waves to cook.

You want look for a family run hotel.  They are usually the cheapest and they are security concious .  Most have steel gates and are quite safe.

You may also want to look in to "Casa de Huespedes", again family run operation. "Guest House"

Signs to look for "Hay Cuartos"  "Habitaciones Disponible"

    "Rent Cuartos" Departamentos Disponible"

    all,mean rooms available.

There is more than one "El Grullo" in Mexico.  If you tell me which state I may be able to provid you with some specifics.

  3. that would be really expensive. in america and in most places around the world, the average comfort inn/days inn etc. price is like, 100 bucks per night. thats a lot of cash. although you probably would et really good discounts and stuff. and ofr all i know, the room prices in mexico are way cheaper.
