Is it possible to step down from the active first program to the regular army national guard enlistment?

I just joined and have only been to one RSP. i signed up for the Active First program and wanted to know if i could step down to a normal 6 by 2 enlistment of the national guard. I don't want to get out and i don't want to look chicken. i just want to be regular guard so that i can finish my schooling and stay where i am.

  1. You can at the MEPS before you leave for basic. But you should let your recruiter and the RSP know your intention to stay a traditional Guardsmen ASAP HOOAAH!

    ARNG SRIP entitlement as applicable.”


  2. yes, you can! when you go back to MEPS to ship, you are supposed to sign a DD form 368 that releases you from the ARNG into the Active Duty.  tell your recruiter and first sergeant that you don't want to go active, and when you go to MEPS you won't have to sign the 368.  they'll find you an open slot in a unit in your state.
