Question:

Is it possible to stop these virus messages from being sent

A friend clicked on something and contracted a virus. The virus searched his facebook friend list and sent itself out to all of them. Then it destroyed his computer.

As one of his friends, I received a message saying it was from him. When I clicked on it, I was taken to a YouTube lookalike page which told me that flash needed to be updated and I should download and install some update from a company in the Czech Republic. I immediately closed the window and tried to contact my friend.

Today, I received another facebook message which is nearly exactly the same.

How can I stop these messages from coming?

Is it possible for my friend to stop the messages from being sent out from his facebook account or is it too late?

I would provide the link, but I just realized I might get in trouble for doing that if somebody downloads the virus.

  1. you can try to block the person who's sending it but to make sure your computer is safe you need to run an antivirus scan ,install an other firewall and run antispyware software.

  2. He needs to run a virus scan, spyware/adware scan, and get an advanced firewall.  He needs to do all of this when he is booted up in safe mode.
