Is it possible to sue print media for defamation?

Like,for example,if there's a group of people--they've been called/labelled something unpleasant (according to this group of people) by the print media (a newspaper), can the newspaper be sued and/or demanded a public apology towards that group of people?

well no ....  they're a newspaper so they can say what they want ... i know it's horrible .... but then again people sue other people for stupid stuff ... this definitely isn't stupid ... so you can try ...

Check into the libel laws in your nation (wherever you are) and see if there was a false statement of fact that causes damage provable in court for a private person (because public persons and public officials are different).

In the U.S., defamation of character would not apply in most cases and the statement would have to be stated as fact and not opinion.

No, unfortunately not. They have a right to call them anything they want, its called Freedom of Press. However, if they made up lies and presented them as facts about this group, you could sue them for libel (printing false information.) Hope this helps.
