  1. I have been doing it for 4 years It takes awhile to learn the system  Monthly passes are  tax deductable  And cheaper than running a car. Seniors and disabled can get a yearly pass

  2. It's possible, but . . I spent a week in Vancouver last year and found it difficult to use public transportation, especially during peak hours and outside of downtown. Most of the buses I tried to board were already completely full. It was annoying and frustrating having to wait in long lines for just the chance to board the bus.  I found it MUCH easier to get around by car when I visited this year.

  3. i have lived here for 46 years and have used a car always

  4. Yes in Vancouver they have good buses and the sky train (although not very safe at night!).  Once you are out of the city though it is impossible to get by without a car.

  5. They have a great transit system and you can buy a monthly pass and save!

You don't have to have a car, but you should live in an area that has a lot of things you can walk to.

  6. Vancouver has great public transportation!

  7. According to someone who used to live there, it's hard but not impossible. Apparently during rush hour the streets get hostile for bikes, which seems weird since that city is supposed to be pro-environment. They do have public transit, if you prefer that route.

  8. There is the skytrain (it's a elevated train not subway). It has two lines that travel from the downtown core to the near suburbs.  There are more lines on the way, but as of right now depending where you live (near the downtown core or farther out) you might have to depend quite a lot on the buses.  As far as large metropolitan cities are concerned (Toronto, London, NYC, Paris, etc) our transit kinda sucks.

Cabs are available, but I waited 1 hour 10 minutes last Friday night. Bikes would be okay, the weather is at least decent most of the time.

If you live down town it's completely do-able, in the burbs... you'll find it tough.
