Is it possible to swap out the off road tires on my mountain bike for on road tires? Or are the forks to wide?

  1. Surely the road tyres will be thinner than your off road ones, so there won't be an issue with the width of the forks.

    You might be referring to the actual wheels though. If so - Probably not. MTB forks are designed for 26" wheels. Road wheels are 700c/27", which will probably not fit - They'll end up hitting the fork, just under the crown.

    You could put slick street tyres on your MTB wheels, this will prove speed on the streets.


  2. You can easily switch tires on your existing wheels.  If you go with slicks (no tread) they are narrower and higher pressure and will give lower rolling resistance. Go for the narrowest you can (i.e. no narrower than the rim width).
