Is it possible to sync a Blackberry Pearl and a Samsung Stripe?

have a Blackberry Pearl 8100, and my hubby has a Samsung Stripe, both T-mobile. Cannot seem to get them to snyc to each other. Is it just not possible? Or am I missing something?
