  1. No.

The Northern Hemisphere has most of the land (which can warm pretty rapidly), the Southern most of the water, which warms more slowly.

  2. No

  3. If you don't want your climate to change, stay within 3 feet of the equator for the rest of your life.  Watch out for snakes.

  4. ocean currents.

  5. I disagree with Bob on this one.  The oceans are a huge heat sink, cover most of the planet, and they're constantly moving and redistributing heat.

"climate change is synchronised between Southern and Northern Hemispheres, with a growth of ice sheets during glaciations occurring in the Arctic and Antarctic. It is now widely believed that the circulation of the oceans provides the forcing factor for synchronisation (Duplessy & Shackleton, 1985; Broecker, 1987; Broecker & Denton, 1990; Boyle & Keigwin, 1987). This is discussed further in section 2.6.4."

Unless you provide more information and a link, few people are going to know what '03 paper you're refering to.

  6. no unless you could somehow build a massive heat pump on a global scale. the energy requirements would probably accelerate global warming further.

  7. I didn't have a clue what you were talking about, until I read the rest of the post. Then I read (shapeshifter's)answer then...wham!... it made sense.

That concept would be the Holey grail to proponents, basically ending a major dispute with the GW theory. The impasse however, as it stands unproven, can still justify incremental changes in temps. So it's a win/win concept for alarmist.I know the study is ongoing but haven't found any new links to it.All I can offer is a old link that is slightly ambiguous....but a good question if you dwell on it.
