  1. unfortunately, there is no trains at las vegas nv at this time.  amtrak sells a bus service that connects to and from amtrak trains elsewhere (los angeles ca or kingman az).

you can ride amtrak/via "maple leaf" from toronto to new york state (buffalo, but you could also choose rochester, syracuse, utica, or schenectady, if you would rather sightsee somewhere else), then catch the "lake shore limited" west to chicago, then transfer to "southwest chief" to kingman az, then transfer immediately to thruway bus to las vegas nv.

    dp trto  8:30a

ar buf  1:25p (or stay on trn to another station roc, syr, uca, sdy)

    dp buf 11:59p

    ar chi  9:45a  +1

    dp chi 3:15p

    ar kng 11:46p +1

dp kng 11:50p (this should be guaranteed conx, if train is late, the bus waits, but double check w amtrak to be sure)

    ar las 3:10a +1

the trains are all handicap and wheelchair accessible.  coach and sleepers are available on the lake shore ltd and southwest chief.

buses may or may not be handicapped accessible, but this is an amtrak thruway bus and it is operated by "Commuter Carriers", not greyhound.  call amtrak or commuter carriers for disability info, this bus may be accessible, or if not, they might have access to use or borrow one with 48hr+ notice).

as a note, you can book these all this travel thru amtrak and you can pay for your tickets either by phone or you can pay for them at the toronto ticket office, they have an amtrak computer on their counter next to the via computers, and they can issue all of your tickets for your entire trip, and they can accept C$ or U$.

    via rail 1.888.via.rail  www.viarail.ca

  2. I would assume that a train would be wheelchair accessible, but you might be more comfortable renting a wheelchair accessible minivan and just driving yourself and the elderly chair user.  I know Kino Mobility is located in Canada and they rent wheelchair accessible vans.

  3. yes.

  4. unfortunaly  there is NO train to las Vegas

you would end up on a bus for part of the journey

it could be done  you would first take the Maple leaf  to Buffalo

(not sure but you might even have to change cars or trains

    at the border as well)c

then change to the lake shore limited to Chicago

then again at at Chicago to the Southwest chief

to Kingman then change again to bus to las Vegas

(it will also take you 3 days

cost is 876.00 for 2 people

suggestion why not start your trip in Chicago?

    less trains travels)
