Question:

Is it possible to take apart and add RCA ports to an old tv?

I found an old tv in my basement that has no rca ports or any other inputs that I can tell of. It does however have a built in vcr and small rabbit ears antenna. I don't know that much about tvs. I do know enough to be careful of capacitors that are still holding a charge, but I was wondering if either with cheap parts, or with parts lying around the house it would be possible for someone with my level of expertise to modify it so that it would have basic RCA inputs that I could use?

  1. It's not as simple as just physically adding the RCA jacks to the TV.  You have to know where to connect them, electrically, and add some additional components to make it a line type output.  You need a schematic of the old TV.  Your best bet would be to get an RF converter box that will provide you these RCA jacks with only the F-connector cable coming in to the TV.

Go to this website to see this unit:  http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605...

Google other units that may be cheaper.
