Is it possible to take honor classes in grade 9?

Question

im going into grade 9 this september and i don't know much about honors. when i got my sign up sheet for classes, there was no option for honors, highest was academic classes. will i be able to take them if i have marks in the high 80's-mid 90's?

sorry for asking so much, i just want to find out as much as i can so i can get into a good college or university!

Every school has a different system of academics. I wouldn't worry to much about your freshman level of Honors/AP classes because colleges do not factor freshman grades in admission. Your real high school g.p.a starts sophomore year. Work hard in freshman year anyway to win you placement in AP/Honors courses. Get a high grade in your history or social studies course and you might be allowed to take either AP World or AP European History. In math, you might be able to take an advanced course depending on your 9th grade placement. Look for an Honors English 10 course. My school offers AP Biology to sophomores so you might want to check if you are allowed to take AP Biology as a sophomore. You can even take classes at your local community college to get ahead in your subject. I took Algebra 2 in summer school and I was allowed to take Honors Pre-Calculus. You can even get ahead in your foreign language by taking courses at a community college but you must get your school approval first.

Unless you've taken the first and second year course in math or foreign language(Spanish1, Spanish 2, Algebra 1, Geometry), you will most likely not be allowed honors classes. Just try your best during freshman year and yes every school has a different system. Consider summer school to get ahead and colleges love kids that take college courses. You can take AP European History, AP Biology, Honors Pre Calculus, Honors Spanish 3 and English 2 Honors at my school and the only Honors class offered for 9th grade is English 1 Honors. Go by your school policy and don't freak out. If you take as many Honors and AP courses, you will get into a great college/university. Feel free to contact me!

i took all honors classes in 9th grade.... maybe its just your school. if it is possible i would reccomend to take honors classes! talk to your guidence counseller.

Idk about your school, but I am able to take Pre Ap classe is in 9th grade and I am. Also I am taking 3 advanced classes. I dont know what your school considers Honors.
