  1. If you can't pay the fine, then you will do the time.

  2. Your income will probably not affect the judge's decision.

Your prior record, remorse for your actions, and ability to accept responsibility may, but your income will not.

  3. You can make payments, otherwise you can try to get them to have you do community service instead...

  4. Ultimetly it is up to the traffic court judge.  You can ask for a payment schedule.  However, you HAVE TO stick to the payment schedule.  Most judges will understand your situation.  Just remain as calm as possible.  NEVER EVER mouth off in a court room!

  5. Most traffic crimes have a jail alternative.

Ex...200 dollar fine or 5 days in jail.

Most people pay the fine. You can simply go to jail. With good behavior, you will serve less than half the time.

Bottom line, if you have money for a car. Money for insurance, money for gas...you won't find much sympathy in court. prisons are FILLED with poor people. Not having money is no excuse for breaking the law and is no defense to avoid the punishment.

When you are found guilty, there is always a alternative to the fine. Usually its jail, but in some areas its community service.

  6. It is possible to make payments and extend those out for a time.

  7. I know someone who was unemployed and could not pay a ticket and the judge put a hold on it and gave him 6 months to pay it and gave him payment arrangements. He ended up getting a job and was able to pay off the ticket in like 3 months.

  8. I had a friend go to court and plead indigence (no money for a fine).  He got sentenced to Community Service instead.

The Municipal Court for the city I work for does not allow this, but they give you time to pay if you ask for it.
