Is it possible to teach out of license/certification area?

By the way, I work in New York but tell me what you know for your state regardless of what it is.

In VA, as long as you have your 5 year license to teach, you can teach out of your area. I have seen many certified teachers do it. If there is a shortage in the area you want to teach, then that is a possibility.

tx allows it but, you must get certifed in it  if you want to keep teaching (it is either 3 or one year)

You could get an Emergency teaching credential (at least in California).
