Is it possible to tenderize country style beef ribs once barbecued?

I cooked some ribs 2 days ago and I forgot to boil them first , so they came out tough. Is there anyway that I can make them more tenderized by cooking more? They were baked in the oven in barbecue sauce.

  2. Just take a kitchen mallet to them.

  3. You could try a slow braise.

  4. I never boil mine first!  Sucks the flvaor out.

But you can wrap them tightly in a foil package, lay on a baking sheet, and bake at about 300-325ºF for 2-3 hours.  They will be nice and tender after that.  To dry them out a bit, open wrap and let them brown some the last 30 min of baking., but keep tightly wrapped/sealed until then.

  5. Nope. Sorry nothing you can do.

  6. Boil them, then put the barbecue sauce back on them and put them in the oven for a few minutes.

  7. are they tough or are they cold? no there isnt anything that you can do. they might be tough because there cold , warm them up in a oven first. Do not use a microwave.

  8. Probably not.  You can chew on them and spit them back out like a mother bird.

  9. Add a little more BBQ Sauce, wrap tightly in foil and bake at 250 degrees for 2 hours.

  10. Not really. It is difficult to tenderize meat, especially ribs, once it has been cooked. You can try putting them in a roasting pan and set it inside a larger pan partially filled with water. Cover everything with foil and put it in a low temperature oven. This might tenderize the meat without drying it out.

  11. Bert C's idea will probably work but you can also cut all the meat off and simmer them in more barbecue sauce on the stove and make chopped barbecue sandwiches.  Just make sure you cut the pieces of meat across the grain.

It's great on a bun topped with coleslaw.

  12. Don't boil the flavor out of your ribs.

Put them in a covered oven proof dish with a little water. Heat them at 300 for 20 minutes. Quicly remove from oven and wrap entire covered dish with a large towel, to hold in the heat, and set on counter. Do not open the lid. 20 minutes and they are just right. This step is called "finishing" on the BBQ circuit. Don't boil, just finish this way. They will stay hot in the towel for an hour or better sitting on the counter
