Someone told me they saw a tie in a snooker match and was wondering how it was settled - I always assumed it to be impossible based on the score process

  1. In snooker matches are generally played to be best of 11 frames or best of 35 frames in the final of the embassy world championships so it not possible to tie in the amount of frames in a match.

In each frame there is a possible 147 points on the table. but it is very rare that all 147 points are utilized. snooker is played by potting a red ball followed by a colour(the points depending on which colour) if a pot is missed the other person gets a chance. if at the end of a frame of snooker each player is on the same amount of points then they replace the black ball on its spot and the first person to pot the black wins.

They flip a coin to see who starts and the person who starts puts the white within the D and starts.

This doesn't happen very often but this is how a draw on points is decided in snooker.

So no, it is not possible to draw in Snooker.

  2. You can't tie in snooker the black is respotted

  3. How can they tie. The person who sinks the black when it's the last ball on the table wins. If you couldn't finish the game you might declare a tie I suppose, but I have never heard of it happening. Maybe the person who told you was pulling your leg.

  4. There's only one way a tie can come about and that is for both players to have the same amount of match wins and call it off. If they play four matches and each won two... that's you tie.

There are many times a tournament will go down to the final match and both players agree to split the winnings rather than play it out.

  5. If a match  was on the hill the last rack could tie it could happen
