  1. It's "possible", to an extent. You can train your bird to recall, or "come", just like a dog. You can teach them tricks, to stay, and to free fly and recall to two (or more people) if you want to.

That being said, birds are wild creatures at heart, and prey animals, so a spooked bird or a bird who "just feels like it" (given it's own reasons!) can easily fly away and get lost or injured.

There is NO guarantee EVER with any animal that they will not stray given the right set of circumstances. Think of all the people who have had dogs hit by cars even though they "always stay in the yard". Better yet, think of all the divorced people who thought that their partner would never cheat on them *grin*. Until we can control human behaviour, which we ARE, I don't think it's reasonable to expect more from animals.

If you would like your bird to remain free flighted without clipping, consider purchasing a harness or flightsuit and a leash for its safety. The cost is realtively inexpensive, it allows for free flight, and prevents the potential loss of a treasured family member.

  2. That is not possible without clipping the wings. It's a bird after all and if something spooks him he could fly off and panic and would not find his way back.

For his own safety and your sanity, get his wings clipped.

A professional can show you how to clip them in a way so it looks like he has all his flight feathers.

  3. It is posible people do it everyday. I do not clip my birds and they get out all of the time. Check You Tube search for "Parrots Free Flight" It is not something that you can do without training, but you can do it....
