I have a full time job, and are therefore not in a position to take time off to do placements in schools, but I would really like to try this alternative career as I have been doing my current job for 10 years. Is this possible, as all the courses I have found involve placements in childcare establishments. I found a distance learning course, but I don't think this was an actual NNEB/NVQ. I am an NVQ assessor in the job I already do, so I am familiar with what kind of training would be involved if I did the NVQ entry route - does anyone know?

Thanks

xx

  1. Please try: http://www.nursingmasters.com They have lots of good information on various nursing degrees both Bachelors and Masters

  2. There is an element of risk involved with any career change.

Would you leave your child at a nursery with people who had never actually done the job? No way.

Do what it takes to get that real experience, or your degree will be worthless.

  3. It would not be possible to train as an early years practitioner without actually being observed in the workplace/setting, what ever route or level you follow, this is the same whether you follow the NVQ route or not. I personally wouldn't employ someone who had the qualification on paper but had no actual experience of working with children or young people in a childcare/learning environment.
