Is it possible to transfer my iTunes songs to a new computer?

I am getting a new laptop very soon and I was wondering if I would be able to take my songs from iTunes on my computer now, (I have about 1700,) and put them on my new iTunes on my new laptop. If there is a simple way of transporting them please let me know and that would be of great help! My friend put all her songs on cds, but I don't think she had that many songs to begin with. For me, that is too tedious and it would be a waste of time and cds of course :p. I appreciate your help!
