I would say yes but you should be doing very systematic investment like say investing some part of it every month and when the things are down and out.

do you even have $50 to get started? why ask meaningless questions? - not like to increase any amount of money by 1000 times in 30 yrs. an 18% annual return (almost double the historical avg for stocks) would take 4 yrs to double, so in 30 yrs you'd still only be at 128 times your original investment - and that doesn't account for income taxes, so you would be even lower than that
