Is it possible to use a pot pipe without a guaze?

Question

I'm gonna buy a little spoon pipe from my local headshop (I just found it ;) )

The thing is do I NEED guazes/screens to use the pipe or will it work just as well without them?

no, a chillum pipe is better though.

yeah. its there to hold the bud in place while youre smokin it. ever smoked out of a home made pipe, and when you inhale, sometimes little pieces of bud fly in your mouth?  not fun. just get the screens.

screens keep the blazin bud from goin down yer throat at high speeds, causing a coughin fit you wont like, trust me, screens are cheap enuf, buy a few packs at a time.
