  1. Yes, Dimension is an herbicide which is labeled for lawn and ornamentals (vines) to control crabgrass.   It should be applied BEFORE crabgrass emergence or just after.

You will not damage your vines if that's what you are asking.  It will prevent many grassy weeds from germinating for up to 6 mos.    If you have vines, apply this 2x/year along the rows to keep your plots grassy weed-free.

Surflan is another pre-emergent that will prevent both grassy and broadleaf weeds.  (altough only availbale in a liquid spray- and commercially)

you can get much information in this website, stay a minute in website and check anyone link at a time, you can aslo get your answer in Google Search in this website, which has helped me alot

  3. Tut, Tut ---once again someone controlling weeds with chemicals.  Pre-emergent weedkillers sound like the gardeners dream but you can't cheat nature and you can't replace good soil husbandry.

After using pre-emergent for a while, the soil appears to take on a "caked" appearance and then attracts green algae.  After a year or so, the soil then sinks exposing the plant stems and after another year or so the plants begin to suffer.

The reason why this happens is that the pre-emergent prevents all the natural life-cycles from occurring ---- there is no air getting to the soil preventing flocculation, there are no natural mulches being applied, the soil is "dead" because it is not being prevented from "breathing".  Worse still your crabgrass is still there travelling underground to other areas.

There is no replacement for lightly forking out your crab-grass, lightly forking in peat or leaf-mould and treating your soil with natural fertilizers such as manure.

Weedkillers are at best a short term answer.  If you like gardeningand love your plants do it properly ---in the end it's really is far easier and more satisfying.
