Since it has it's own way of connecting, can I connect it to my computer and download through it. Is there any sort of mod or anything?

  1. I don't think so.

  2. well i have a router witch is wireless and it does make everything faster

  3. You can't use it as a modem or router. However, PS3 can be connected to a modem or a router in order to go into internet. Routers aren't expensive nowadays and they let you surf from a couple of computing devices at the same time.

  4. With the firmware that Sony makes for it, no, but if you run linux on your PS3 (not too hard to do), and you set up routing software on it, you can control the wireless card and use it as an access point, I have tried similar things with no good results, so you are on your own, also, as soon as you boot back into the PS3's XMB, you can't run the Linux software until you log back into Linux, so it's either using the PS3 for games/movies/music, or having it in Linux acting as a router, keep in mind the PS3 will have to be connected via na ethernet cable to make this work, the wireless card can't work both ways as the same time

  5. no and if you could by say using linux it would impair the functions of the ps3 do to the load of running your lan
