Is it possible to use my laptop as a TV?

So I just moved into my college dorm four days ago and I've been missing my favorite shows. Is there anyway I can watch TV from my laptop. And what about cable. Would it be possible to connect that to my TV?

My HP laptop uses a tv tuner that plugs into a usb port.

Works great, full screen or reduced.

I like it very much.

If it's a question of live tv then most likely you will have to buy a TV Tuner card, but might be hard with a laptop. If you just want to watch older episodes you can go to Hulu.com and watch many of your favorite shows there. Most of the popular series are up right away.
