Is it possible to use my shiny new BT home hub phone for making/receiving calls on Skype?

I thought it may be possible using the homehub and thee home hubs' phone wifi capabilities.

Does it HAVE to be BT's own VOIP service or is what I'm asking theoretically possible?

  1. In theory it is in fact possible to use the Hub as a Skye handset, but it takes some doing as 1st you need to update the software in the hub (it comes locked to BT's network) then you need to update the software in the phone, all this takes some time and some technical knowledge - it can be found on the web, but since Skye handsets are so cheep, I would not bother.

It also invalidates any warranties you have from BT.

    Hope this helps?

  2. No you can't use your hub phone for calls on Skype, and it doesn't have to be BT's VOIP either.

  3. no...sorry...skype doesn't work that way!!

    you will need a skype-phone!!
