  1. It should be, maybe you should try to find some application which enables you to do that.

Sounds possible, as i am using my phone to control my desktop,

both my laptop and phone have bluetooth. I use to change songs , close computer etc....

well remote desktop using wireless router should also be possible

  2. This is not as straightforward as people make out.

    1. You need to have the right versions of Windows to use RDP at all. For XP only professional comes with the RDP server. If you do not have a version with the RDP server you can install a free client/server such as UltraVNC.

    2. You need to do NAT traversal to get through a router configuration. This may mean some painful static routing and editing of firewall rules. This can be tricky, even with a static IP address, and is harder without.

For the latter there is a neat workround. Download Hamachi from www.logmein.com. Hamachi is a server assisted VPN that does NAT traversal for you. You set up a network, get the computers you want to conenct to join it via their Hamachi clients and then just type in the machine name you have chosen to connect. You do not need to know the IP address and the IP address does not have to be static. It just works.

  3. yes

  4. Yes.

You just have to enable remote connections on both and place the users that you want to connect in the remote desktop users group. If they are on the same LAN you just type in the Ip address in the RDP client and voila.

  5. Absolutely!  You need to know the IP address of the target computer and make sure that 'Allow users to connect remotely to this computer' is checked in Control Panel/System/Remote.

Couple of ways to find the IP address - run 'ipconfig' from the command prompt, or go to Control Panel / Network Connections and click on Local Area Connection.  The IP will be displayed in the panel in the right column,  You usually have to scroll down to find it.
