Is it possible to use student id numbers as a requirement to log onto a website?

  1. Possible?  A password can be all numbers, yes.  But I don't think that is what you meant to ask.  Did you want directions, or to know if it is legal?


  2. On a large scale, the logistics simply wouldn't work...virtually impossible to verify that a particular user was using a valid student ID number.

    If your site is targeted toward a specific school (or possibly a specific school district), you could absolutely control access to the site using student ID numbers.  The easiest way would be to create a login ID and password for each person that you want to allow in your site...either the ID or the password could be the student ID number.  Then simply provide instructions for accessing the system (e.g., enter your student ID in the username box and your DOB in mm/dd/yyyy format in the password box).
