Is it possible to use your mind to hold up your body temperature?

I know it probably sounds pritty stupid and I'm pritty sure the answer is no, but it's just that I read this book where they talked about it....

It's probably c**p..... but still just wanned to be sure :D

  1. unless you can train your hypothalamus and pituitary gland to keep your metabolic rate up, probably not.... especially if you are in extreme situations. Your body needs calcium, sodium and potassium to keep things going. It is not unheard of to train your mind to overcome some things, however it takes a life time of practice and dedication.


  2. I think it can be done.  I think if you try to think of things that make you scared or angry, it would keep your heart rate up.  Maybe it would save you from frost bit a few more minutes if you were caught in an avalanche.
