A pub wager - my friends and I were discussing my fascination with the London Underground the other day, and I was proposed a Jules Vernian style wager - to visit every station on the London Underground system in one day (from first train til last train, I suppose...).

Is this possible?

  1. If this really is a Jules Vernian wager, then that would leave you 79 and a bit days to relax and recover in afterwards.

  2. Yes it is and the record has been mentioned but it takes a lot of planning and don't fall asleep!

  3. It's been done. The current record is 18 hours, 35 minutes and 43 seconds.

  4. Wow, 275 stations in a record  time of 18 hours, 35 minutes and 43 seconds. And after all that it was so late that they had to spend the money for a minivan to take them home.

Somebody has to set the record for the Tube, Train, DLR and Tram Travelcard zone map. I bet that would nearly kill you.

Come to Las Vegas. The monorail has 7 stations and you can do it in 13 minutes. I don't think it's true anymore, but at one point it was cheaper to buy a day pass for London Underground than for the Las Vegas monorail. In any case you can finish the run and then spend the next 18hrs, 22min, 43 sec. drinking and gambling. You may still need to take a taxi home.
