Question:

Is it possible to walk from Terminal 5 / Terminal 3 to Terminal 2 at the LAX airport?

I am thinking of buying 2 separate tickets for Delta (Terminal 5) / AirTran (Terminal 3) and Northwest (Terminal 2), changing at LAX. I am going to have 2-3 baggages and I figured out it might be easier for me to walk with a pushcart instead of trying to get up the shuttle bus? Any idea if it is possible to walk? Me tried to ask the airlines to check my bags all the way through but it seems like they are unable to do it and asked me to try my luck when I check in on the day of my flight,

  1. It is definitely possible.  I have walked from Terminal 5 Delta to Terminal 3 TWA (before they were bought by American).  It is not that bad and the weather in Los Angeles is usually pretty good.  However since you have a lot of bags, I would take the bus that stops at every terminal.

  2. Looking at http://www.lawa.org/lax/terminalMap.cfm

suggests 2-3 would be much more feasible.

From 5 it would be a pretty good hike.

Not sure if you can take a baggage trolley from one

    terminal to another.

I think I'd plan on using a shuttle.

  3. It's definitely a hike going from 5 to 2-3.  Terminals 2 and 3 are connected, so that's not an issue at all.  Terminal 5 is on the other side of the airport, and you have terminal 4 and the International Terminal in between 5 and 3.  However, it is possible for you to cut through the parking lots to get between the terminals, so that will cut down on your time.

It's definitely doable, especially with 2 or 3 bags, and yes, you can take a cart from terminal to terminal.  The shuttles can be pretty random, and you have to take the A bus if you are going for that route.
