I'd like to go abroad to work, does anyone know of any schemes where you dont have to pay an arm and a leg to have a good time, earn a little money and spend the summer?

  1. If you're an EU resident you can work anywhere in Europe. Just fly out to spain and look for jobs in all the bars, clubs etc - there are loads that have british only staff, and people are always leaving and going home for various reasons - so there are jobs available. And if not in the bars and clubs, there are always jobs available in construction - although lugging bricks around in that sun ain't fun!

  2. If you're in the UK, and want to do this legally, you could try BUNAC. Yes, there are fees involved, but not quite at the scale you mentioned! Still, it's not cheap. And you do have to go through a sponsoring agency in order to get that work visa. There are a few that I know of. In fact, I'll give a link to a list, below.

You can also simply come over on a tourist visa and stay the summer. What you do once you get to the other country is best left offline. And I'm not saying that I did this myself, but I found it very easy to simply walk from restaurant to pub in a major city, asking if they were hiring. (don't bother with the chains. Stick to the local places.) It was obvious from my accent that I wasn't exactly from there. I found a job my second day. Men can also ask at construction sites.

And of course, you can work anywhere in the EU without much of an issue, so that's certainly an option.

You could also do a summer study program with a university, such as NYU. You'd be legally allowed to work on campus with that sort of visa, but you'd need to ask them to be sure about the details. And that'd be expensive, because you'd be paying for the courses - but at least you'd be getting courses, perhaps in something new to you, like film - film in NY!

  3. what a friend of mine did was booked a holiday for a week in greece (or where ever you want to work so you have a roof over your head) then while there she looked round for work there. If she couldn't find work and somewhere to stay she would have come home. She got a job and a place to stay there and stayed all summer comming back in september and she really loved it and would like to do it again. If you do it make sure you have either an openended return ticket or enough money at least to get a ticket home.

Do it while you can and have fun xx

  4. pick a place on the globe you like the sound of & can speak the language, get off the plane & take a taxi to where all the backpacker lodges are (taxi driver will know)

every lodge has a notice board with various opertunitys

even if you are not staying at a place you can say to reception you just want to check out the notice board , they will let you in , if you find no jobs you will sure find some nice travel buddys in the process.

it worked for me , i ended up in some unimaginable positions ,even saild the atlantic , ******* briliant !!!!

    have fun mate

  5. There are loads of opportunities and now is the time to start looking.

There is always bar work, or handing out leaflets and flyers in party places.

If you like kids then there are loads of kids camps in Europe or you could do camp America.

Have a look at the jobcentre web site - you can search for jobs abroad there.
