You can't use your phone or turn it on while on the plane if it left the terminal and didn't reach the destination airport's terminal. You won't get any signal anyway and is not safe for the flight. Just don't do that.

Possible, yes. Legal, no (at present.) (And not on a private plane, either.)

On a passenger airline, it is not legal.  But in theory it might work.

On a private plane, it is legal, and works sometimes, depending on if you're out in the middle of nowhere or not.

Edit:  To the 4th answerer...okay, maybe it's not legal on a private plane.  I have heard of it being done, so I assumed it was legal.  My bad.

im pretty sure youre not allowed to use a cell phone on a plane anymore.

Yer my dads a pilot and he ses a mobile phone will only damage instruments on older planes. Ive left my phone on while flying and nothing happened. But I guess there wouldnt be a phone arieal close enough to the plane
