  1. Amero will only exist under a few conditions.

    A) Mexicans learn English

    B) Canada and Mexico become States of the United States

We won't allow this to become some type of European Union. Either Canada and Mexico become states (then subdivided into smaller states) or this issue is DOA.

  2. The EU and its euro are already showing signs of strains.  The economies of the various members are different, and its huge & costly bureaucracy with the lack of a representative government (no EU officials are elected!) is causing dissention and grumbling. I give it at most another decade.

An object lesson for US, Canada & Mexico.  Sounds good in theory, but in practice unelected supra-governmental operations infringe on sovereignty, citizens' rights, lack appropriate checks & balances, etc.  Trying to merge 3 very disparate entities would be a disaster.  Like the Soviet Union, it would collapse under its own weight.  Remember, the USSR has collapsed and divided back into a number of separate countries.

The US is under tremendous strain from years of excessively easy money and the accumulation of debt.  Its population growth rate, primarily due to immigration, is at impoverishing levels and is the reason why real per capita income has not increased in 3 decades.  (Any population growth rate of 0.5% or more is impoverishing.)  The Fed is trying to inflate its way out of the crisis, which is why the dollar is dropping and this in turn underlies much of the current inflation.

Canada has become a very socialistic, very high-tax system, which seriously weakens its economy, but it is bailed out at present by the commodities boom since commodities are Canada's strength and such exports are a major source of income.

Mexico is an overpopulated and corrupt oligargarchy.  A fifth of its population actually lives in the US (the majority of whom have violated immigration and other laws, even tho many were legalized in the 1986 amnesty).  Its largest source of revenue is now remittances, foreign aid, etc. from the US.

Bringing these 3 disparate economies and political systems into coordination and common supra-government would be a nightmare for each country and for its citizens.  It would have to collapse of its own weight.

Interestingly, the amalgam called the USSR survived about 60 years before its collapse.  The EU, which began in the 1950s as the Common Market, will begin to collapse by about the time of its 60th year.  The UN is now just over 60 years old, and it has become a dysfunctional money-grab.  The Kondratieff cycle, a long-wave economic cycle, averages about 60 years.  But I would not assess life expectancy of a North American Union at half that unless it were a totalitarian entity like USSR, EU, UN.  Then it might survive at most about 60 years, and the inevitable bust-up would be far more devastating economically than the collapse of the USSR since the population of an NAU would be so much greater.

  3. The Amero will never come to fruition as long as Mexico is a Third World country.
