Is it "filet" or "fillet?"?

When driving, of course, you'll always see fast food restuarants. McDonald's has fish FILETS but Wendy's has fish FILLETS according to their advertisement. Also, fish items sold on the market mostly spell it FILLET but practically every person I have asked says it's FILET. Which one is it?

  3. Both spellings are in dictionary and correct. Example: Filet mignon,  fish fillet or fish filet.......no fillet mignon....get it.....

  4. here's what I found just by checking the dictionary...it seems that either spelling is correct

  6. well, i think it's either one. they are kind of the same. i mostly see fillets, so maybe it's that.
