Vladimir Klitschko from Russia has been heavyweight boxing champion for years now... did anyone know this? I find it strange that I had to look this fact up because I haven't read anything about it or seen anything on television... racist..? I kind of have to think so... what do you think?

  1. Definitely not a racial issue, lol even the  Klitschko brothers beg to be a house hold name and they themselves realize no one knows or recognizes this. Take it from the guys that answers, the heavyweight division is hurting.  Besides they have just now become active again.

  2. If he was American he'd be crowned the "Great White Hope" by ESPN but because Wlad is Russian the American public could care less.

  3. It's just automatic that when he is a white champ. he suck. Maybe there are scientific explanations in this.

  4. Not racist at all...........the heavyweights are one of the worst weight divisions in boxing.........Vladimir and Ibragimov put on a terrible show tonight and I could see why they wouldn't want to show any highlites of that one!!........actually they'll have a hard time picking out highlites to show from the fight because not too much happened in the fight.

If Vitali Klitschko would have beaten Lennox Lewis when they fought and continued to fight with the same passion that he showed in that fight then he'd be talked on Sportscenter a lot.

Put on a good show and then get on Sportscenter.........besides if Sportscenter was so racist against white people then they wouldn't show any hockey highlites.

  5. The big money in boxing comes from the USA.  Now, not only are the current heavyweight champions from outside the USA, but there aren't even any credible American contenders.  So, the attention is all shifted down by a few weight classes.  Get a flashy American contender in there and this will change, and it certainly won't matter what race he is.

  6. america always did try and keep the title. but the problem is more the slump the division is in these days.

once upon a time the division had very big numbers since boxing was one of the world's only pro sports.

Now there are so many other sports to make big money or sponsorship in- the world's 4 or 5 football codes, bodybuilding, WWE, powerlifting, kickboxing ,athletics field events etc. boxing has less people doing it and even watching it.

  7. could be true. the media is the best proof.

  8. It's not racist, it's just so boring to watch these guys fight, the media would rather cover frog races or dwarf tossing.

  9. probably doesn't have to do with race. boxing is simply just not as popular as it once was. it will always have its nitch audience hence why it will never go away. plus the heavyweight division just doesn't have the excitement it once did. not sure why but that's how it goes right now

  10. haven't seen the fight yet,not one id go out my way to watch anyway with that lump of wood Igramovc in!one thing though id say is since when was all of Ali's fights so interesting?or George Fore mans?Ali many times simply was a bore to watch and so was foreman, john Ruiz another one,how about many of Lewis's farces and so on,if you aren't a fan of a boxer its easy to dismiss a guy by the usual'fought no-one' argument and whatever, and Ali's comment about Joe Louis being a 'uncle Tom'about the worst thing a black geezer can say to one of his own,is so typical of Ali's racism!I remember when he came here to England on the Parkinson show and mouthed off about how wicked the white man was and refused to shake Parkinson's hand and made a spectacle of himself with his ranting and raving,so what im saying is Klitchco, for me,is a superb boxer and athlete and a credit to the sport, ono razzmatazz or wwf type hype, very efficient and OK he may have had a off night?what I know of America is racism is rife, esp in sport, and also I agree Joe Louis was treated disgracefully by America, esp as a political pawn i the pre war fights with schmelling.Marciano idolised Dempsey and Louis and the video I have more or less says that he beat a well over the hill Louis and was full of admiration for him,all I can hope for is another Tyson type to come and save this poor division!!

  11. Probably has more to do with his nationality than his actual race. Plus the heavyweights are the least entertaining of the boxing weights....
