We don't realise how lucky we are here in UK.  I get mad when I hear Brits complaining about our weather.  Yes, it can be cold and wet - especially here in Scotland - and we do get the occasional localised flooding but we don't really get the extremes that other countries get. We don't get tropical storms or hurricanes, neither do we live with the threat of earthquakes, volcanoes or drought, and we're never snowed in for any great length of time, even in the north of Scotland.  And on top of all that, UK is one of the most beautiful countries in the world.  

It's times like this that we look at New Orleans and really appreciate what we have.  My best wishes and thoughts go out to all those people in the path of Gustav and I hope you all come through safely.

The path of Gustav and its effect on New Orleans is still uncertain, my thoughts are with the folk there.  Hope is that New Orleans is better prepared than at any time in its history for weather related events.

I try never to be grumpy, as life is far too short anywhere in the world to waste it on being a misery guts (like the troll that just gave my answer thumbs down!)

i'm in hertfordshire, south east england & it's really raining here with some thunder thrown in!!  nice & cosy indoors though...lazy sunday morning!

I'm in North Devon and it is raining - as usual!  Feeling fed up - was hoping to go to the beach today.  Still will, but with coat and wellies on.
