Well, you can post whatever you're selling on craiglist and profit from the sales. It's not intended to be an online store, I don't think, but if you're selling your old bike or renting out an apartment, then you'll profit from that sale.

Are you asking if people really buy things off craigslist? I have. I bought someone's used chairs, and am very happy with them. I also rented an apartment I found on craigslist. Another time, I was having car trouble, posted a question and got a dozen offers to fix it for free.
