Question:

Is it really bad to only take 2 years of a language in high school?

I'm a junior in high school, and i took two years of spanish and got As both years. I then wanted to switch to French (because i plan to move to Canada after college), but it was impossible to work into my schedule due to classes that only occur during one certain period. I plan to go to an out of state college (my favorite is Ithaca College right now) and i will be a science teacher when i grow up. I am taking tough classes in place of a language, so hopefully it won't look too bad to colleges in applications...I may take French at a local community college next summer, but i feel that i may be way too busy with jobs/volunteer work/vacations/etc, so it might not be possible for me to take the French class.

Is this a really bad thing to do?:(

  3. 2 years is the ideal amount but i think colleges like it when u exceed

i heard in order to go to a university u need 3

    my counceler told me

  4. It all depends on what college you want to attened.  Some colleges only require 2 years of a language while others require 3.  My advice would be to look into the admition requirments for the schools you are looking at.  I am a senior in high school and I found that your best resource for this outside  of your counsoulers is collegeboard.com.  You can look up anything about the colleges you wish to attend. If you still have questions I would contact the school directly and ask them. Hope this is helpful
