Is it really bad to store water in the fridge in plastic containers rather than glass ones, like pitchers?

Glass is better, yes. And preferably with a lid.

yeah...

storing water in the fridge in the plastic containers and then melting it back causes some material not compatible with human body released.

so it's better to use glass containers.
